Freeze frame is a module in the Check Engine™ app that is responsible for storing and retrieving Freeze frame data. Freeze frame data are elements that depict the operating conditions of the engine.
When the engine light comes on, the vehicle parameters real-time values at the time the error was detected are stored. Regulations require that certain engine operating elements be captured. The data or set of data captured together with the associated triggering DTC are stored.
Sometimes, there are multiple DTCs captured at the same time, and at other times one DTC code may trigger other DTC codes to be stored. For this reason, sets of Freeze frame records per DTC is stored in the freeze frame buffer and have a well-defined algorithm for managing and overwriting them.
A set of freeze frame data is with the associated DTC is stored with a freeze frame number and can be searched and Identified by the 2 digit freeze frame unique code know as frame no
